Account & Membership Information:

• Name & Email Address: When you create an account, subscribe to our newsletter, or sign up for a paid membership, we collect your name and email address to manage your account, deliver content, and communicate with you.
• Payment Information: If you purchase a paid membership or subscription, all payment transactions are handled entirely by Apple through In-App Purchases. We do not collect, process, or store any payment card details or billing information. Apple's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment data.

Information You Provide Through the App:

• ZIP Code / Location: When you enter a ZIP code or city/state to receive location-specific hazard information. This data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers for permanent storage.
• Chat Messages: When you use the "Ask NimboStratusAI" feature, your questions are sent to our server to generate AI-powered responses. Conversation history is maintained only in your device's local memory during your session and is not permanently stored on our servers.

Information Collected Automatically:

• Usage Data: We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics to improve app performance and features. This data cannot be used to identify individual users.
• Device Information: Basic device type and operating system version for compatibility and troubleshooting purposes.

Information We Do NOT Collect:

• We do not collect precise GPS location. We use only the ZIP code you manually provide.
• We do not use tracking cookies or advertising identifiers.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To provide location-specific weather alerts, forecasts, hazard tracking, air quality data, UV index information, and aviation weather
• To generate AI-powered weather intelligence and respond to your questions via the Ask NimboStratusAI feature
• To display relevant satellite imagery, earthquake data, and climate information for your area
• To manage your account and deliver paid membership features and content
• To send you newsletters, weather briefings, and other communications you have opted into
• To manage your subscription status (payments are processed entirely by Apple)
• To improve and optimize the App's features, performance, and user experience
• To communicate with you regarding your account, membership, or if you contact us directly

4. Third-Party Services and Data Sources

NimboStratusAI integrates with the following third-party data providers to deliver its services:

• National Weather Service (NWS) / NOAA: Weather alerts, forecasts, and radar data
• USGS: Earthquake hazard data
• FEMA: Disaster declaration data
• Storm Prediction Center (SPC): Severe weather outlooks
• National Hurricane Center (NHC): Hurricane and tropical weather data
• US Drought Monitor: Drought condition maps
• FAA Aviation Weather Center: Aviation weather (METAR) data
• Open-Meteo: Air quality and UV index data
• OpenAI: AI-powered weather analysis and chat responses
• Zippopotam.us: ZIP code to geographic coordinate conversion

When you use the App, your ZIP code or derived geographic coordinates may be shared with these services to retrieve location-specific data. These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

When using the AI-powered features, your questions and location context are processed by OpenAI's API. OpenAI's data usage policies apply to this processing. We do not send any personally identifiable information to OpenAI.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your location preferences (ZIP code) are stored locally on your device using secure local storage.

If you create an account or subscribe to a paid membership, your name, email address, and account preferences are stored securely on our servers. All payment processing is handled by Apple through In-App Purchases — we never receive or store your payment details.

We implement commercially reasonable security measures to protect any data processed through our servers, including encryption of data in transit. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

• Local Data: Your ZIP code and preferences remain on your device until you clear the app data or uninstall the App.
• Account Data: Your name, email address, and account information are retained for as long as you maintain an active account. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
• Newsletter Data: Your email address is retained for newsletter delivery until you unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link provided in each newsletter.
• Subscription Records: We retain records of your subscription status for account management purposes. All payment transaction details are managed by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy and data retention policies.
• Chat Data: AI chat conversations are held in temporary memory during your session and are not stored permanently.
• Server Logs: Any server-side logs are automatically purged and are not retained for extended periods.

7. Children's Privacy

NimboStratusAI is designed to be educational and family-friendly, including content specifically curated for children and families. However, the App is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Your Rights

You have control over your personal information:

• Cancel Membership: You can cancel your paid membership at any time through your account settings or by contacting us.
• Opt-Out: You may choose not to use features that require data sharing (such as the AI chat feature) without affecting the core functionality of the App.
